Amey employee Ben Winterbone has put his work skills to good use by training NHS workers at a local doctors’ surgery on how to fit face masks.

Ben, who works at Amey’s Waterbeach Waste Management Park, has undertaken a “Face Fit, Train the Trainer” PPE course. He recently used one of his volunteering days to visit Downham Market’s Bridge Street Surgery and pass on his knowledge to them.

Amey will be offering this support to other surgeries.

Speaking about the visit, Ben said: “I wanted to do this training because my mother and sister work for the NHS at this surgery, and I wanted to do what I could to help protect them as much as I can using the skills I have acquired through working for Amey.”

Ben’s first visit was so successful, he has been asked to go on a repeat visit, and Amey has received other requests for assistance which they will be responding to.

Every Amey employee is entitled to one day per year to support their communities – Community Involvement Day. Amey will be offering support to local surgeries to help ensure PPE is used correctly - this will start immediately following Ben's excellent example, and extend beyond National Volunteer Week which runs this week (1-7 June).
